Fall Pressure Washing Checklist for Ooltewah, TN Homes
The leaves are turning, football's on, and the mornings around Ooltewah finally have a little bite to them. Fall is also one of the best times of year to get your home's outside cleaned up. Summer's pollen, mildew, and red clay are still clinging to everything, and the winter months ahead are when that grime does the most damage. A little Dew'ing now saves a lot of fixing later.
Here's our simple fall pressure washing checklist for homeowners in Ooltewah, Collegedale, Harrison, East Ridge, Cleveland, and McDonald, TN. Work through it yourself as a walk-around, or hand the whole list to us.
1. Clear the gutters before the big leaf drop
Clogged gutters are one of the most common fall headaches we see. When leaves, shingle grit, and pine needles pack in, rainwater spills over the edge instead of heading down the downspout. That can stain siding, soak flower beds, and send water toward your foundation. Clearing them out before the heaviest leaf drop, and again after if you've got a lot of trees, keeps water moving where it belongs.

Check out our Shingled-Out roof and gutters post to see what a clean roofline looks like when we're done.

2. Soft wash the roof streaks
Those dark streaks running down a lot of East Tennessee roofs are usually algae, and they tend to hang on through the damp months. Roofs should be soft washed with low pressure, never blasted, so the shingles keep their protective granules. Fall is a good time to knock the streaks back before winter. If you're not sure which method is right, our soft wash vs. pressure washing guide breaks it down.
3. Wash the siding and trim
Look at the north side of your house and anywhere that stays shady. If you see a green or grey film, that's mildew and algae from the humid summer. A gentle house soft wash clears it off vinyl, painted trim, soffits, and fascia without forcing water behind the siding. It's also a nice refresh before family comes in for the holidays.
4. Clean the deck before it gets slick
Wet leaves plus a film of mildew can turn a deck into a slip-and-slide. Washing it now lifts the grime and grey weathering, and it leaves the wood ready for stain or sealer if you want to protect it before winter. Here's what a weathered deck looks like before a wash. See more in our deck cleaning post.

5. Brighten the driveway, sidewalks, and steps
Concrete collects a whole season of tire marks, red clay, and that slick green growth in shady spots. Wet leaves sitting on it can leave stains, too. A good driveway pressure washing cleans the driveway, walkways, front steps, and patio so the first thing guests see is a clean entry.
6. Give the fence some love
Wood fences go grey and green fast in our humidity. A low-pressure wash brings back the natural color without chewing up the boards. See our fence pressure washing page for before-and-after results.
7. Don't forget the little details
Mailboxes, brick columns, light posts, sheds, and outdoor furniture all collect grime too. They're quick wins that make the whole property look sharper. No job's too small for JimmyDew. See our brick mailbox and backyard shed cleanups.

Questions folks ask
Is fall a good time to pressure wash?
Yes. Temperatures are milder, and cleaning off summer's mildew and pollen before winter means it's not sitting on your surfaces for months. For a full year-round plan, see How Often Should You Pressure Wash Your House and Driveway in Ooltewah, TN?
Should I clean the gutters before or after the leaves fall?
If you have a lot of trees, both is best. Otherwise, aim for after most of the leaves are down so the gutters are clear heading into winter rain.
Can you do several items in one visit?
Usually, yes. Tell us everything on your list when you ask for a quote, and we'll plan the visit around it.
