Pool Deck & Clubhouse Walkway Cleaning in Collegedale, TN
Pool season is over for most of us around Collegedale and Ooltewah. The covers are on, the chairs are stacked, and the pool deck is about to sit under a pile of wet leaves until May. That makes late fall a smart time to clean the concrete around the pool, plus the clubhouse walkways and sidewalks that lead to it. Here's why we like to Dew it now, and what to expect if you book a pool deck cleaning with JimmyDew.

Why clean the pool deck before winter?
A summer of sunscreen, pool toys, foot traffic, and wet towels leaves a film on concrete. Add shade from nearby trees and our humid East Tennessee weather, and you get green algae in the low spots, black mildew along the edges, and leaf stains where debris sat too long. If that film sits all winter, it soaks in deeper and the deck gets slick when it's wet.
Algae and mildew are easier to remove before they spend a cold, damp winter growing into the surface.
Tannin stains from oak and maple leaves lighten more easily when they're fresh.
A clean deck lets you (or your HOA board) see cracks, trip hazards, and drainage problems before spring.
Come opening day, you only need a quick rinse instead of a full clean-up.
What we clean around the pool
We focus on hard, flat surfaces, the same kind of work we do on driveways and sidewalks every week:
Broom-finished concrete pool decks and the walkways around them.
Clubhouse entry sidewalks, steps, and the path from the parking lot to the gate.
Paver patios and seating areas next to the pool.
Brick or block retaining walls and planters near the deck.
The pool house or clubhouse siding with a gentle soft wash, if it needs one.
We use a surface cleaner on the flat concrete for an even, stripe-free finish, then treat leftover algae and mildew. For siding and painted trim, we switch to a low-pressure house soft wash. Not sure which method fits which surface? Our soft wash vs. pressure washing guide covers it.

What we don't do
We clean surfaces. We don't clean the inside of the pool, balance the water, or repair or resurface concrete. If your deck has big cracks, spalling, or loose coping, we'll point it out so you can call the right contractor. Some decks have older coatings or paint that won't hold up to pressure. If we see one of those, we'll talk with you before we start and adjust our approach.
Homeowners: a quick prep list
Make sure the pool cover is on and secure, or let us know if the pool is still open so we can plan around it.
Move loungers, tables, umbrellas, and toys off the deck.
Clear the big piles of leaves if you can. We'll handle the rest.
Unlock the pool gate and tell us about any dogs or gate codes.
Point out a working outdoor spigot.
Our full house wash prep checklist has more tips if you're booking a house wash the same day.
HOAs and clubhouses: plan it like a project
Neighborhood pools in Collegedale, Ooltewah, and Apison usually close after Labor Day, so October and November are an easy window to get the deck, entry walks, and clubhouse cleaned with no one around. A few things that help:
Send us a site map or a few photos showing the deck, walkways, and any clubhouse walls you want included.
Let us know the water source and whether the gate needs a key or code.
Bundle it with your
so the neighborhood looks sharp for the holidays.
Ask about a yearly schedule. Our
explains how we price shared areas.
Board members always ask what goes into a price. Our quote guide walks through the questions we ask and how we measure the job.
Keep it clean through winter
Once the deck is clean, blow off leaves every couple of weeks and don't let wet piles sit. For more cold-weather tips, see our winter concrete care guide. If you have a wood deck by the pool, check out our deck cleaning guide, and if the fence around the pool is looking green, a fence wash fits right in on the same visit.
